2 youth development projects get UK grants
Two Bangladeshi social action projects are amongst the first 17 organisations to receive a grant from The Queen's Young Leaders Programme through which they will be able to provide young people with opportunities for learning new skills, securing employment and changing their lives as well as others.
Bangladesh Youth Enterprise Advice & Helpcenter will provide training and monitoring services to support underprivileged young entrepreneurs build sustainable businesses, said a press release of the British High Commission in Dhaka.
ActionAid Bangladesh will support young women and girls to become more involved with their local communities through training and education.
Organisations in Jamaica, Zambia, the UK, and Solomon Islands were also invited by the programme, which is being run by The Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust in partnership with Comic Relief and the Royal Commonwealth Society, to apply for the grant.
An advisory panel formed with inspiring and influential young people from across the Commonwealth helped in the selection of those projects.
