29 teen-gang members held in Dhaka

A mobile court has sent 29 members of different teenage gangs to Juvenile Development Centre after detaining them from different areas of Dhaka.

They were detained in a drive conducted by Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in Karwan Bazar, Farmgate, Railway line slum, Shishumela and Shyamoli area yesterday afternoon, a press release of Rab says.

The detained teenagers confessed in primary interrogation that they are active members of various teenage gangs and all of them are addicted to drugs, it reads.

They used to snatch valuables from people and exchanged those for yaba tablets.

The elite force also recovered 13 yaba tablets, 12 packets of marijuana, a knife and eight mobile phones from their possession, according to the press release.
