3 injured in 'BCL factional clash' in Ctg
Three Bangladesh Chharta League (BCL) activists took treatment at local hospitals for minor injuries yesterday following an alleged factional clash of the pro-Awami League student organisation at Government Hazi Mohammad Mohsin College in Chittagong city in the afternoon.
Police acknowledged hearing a gunshot and that a motorcycle was vandalised and injured Oishik Paul Zitu, 21, Fakhruddin Al Foysal, 22 and Maimunul Haque Mamun, 21, are students of the college, which has no BCL unit.
Chawk Bazar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Aziz Ahmed told The Daily Star that eight BCL activists from some colleges had an altercation with another activist, also a student of the Mohsin college, while trying to enter the campus on four motorcycles around 1:00pm, leading to the clash.
However, BCL's Chittagong city unit General Secretary Nurul Azim Roni claimed that people impersonating BCL men carried out an attack on activists of the student organisation and students of the college.
