3 missing students’ bodies found in Dhaleshwari

Divers yesterday recovered the bodies of three students who had gone missing in Dhaleshwari river after going there for a swim on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Akash, son of Babul Hossen of Savar’s Banktwon area; Mehedi, son of Anowar Hossen of Agargaon’s Taltola, and Razon, son of Zafor Mia of the same area.

They were first-year students of Dhaka’s Ideal College and went to the river in Savar’s Banktown area with other classmates around 11:30am on Saturday.

Liton Ahmed, senior station officer of Savar Fire Service and Civil Defense, told The Daily Star that two units of fire fighters and a team of Bangladesh Navy were conducting rescue operations to trace the missing students.

AFM Sayeed, officer-in-charge of Savar Model Police Station, said all the three bodies were handed over to the family members.
