5 drug-positive BMP officers sent to jail

Five police officers, among 12 tested positives in drug tests, were sent to jail in Barishal yesterday, according to Barishal Metropolitan Police (BMP).

Of the five, who were in assistant sub-inspector rank, were also found involved in drug peddling, said Abu Saleh M Raihan, deputy commissioner of the BMP.

Among them, four were sacked and one went to retirement willingly, he said.

"The drug tests were conducted on 55 police personnel in different ranks and of them 12 ASIs tested positives," said Abu Saleh.
