Abducted Manikganj UP chairman rescued in Savar, 4 held

Police rescued a union parishad chairman from a house at Radio Colony in Savar, outside the capital, yesterday a day after he had been abducted from Nabinagar.

Abdur Rashid, 70, chairman of Shimulia union, said one Kamrul Hasan Biplob and Rasel Rana abducted him on Tuesday and demanded Tk 5 lakh as ransom.

After his family paid Tk one lakh through bKash, police rescued him by tracking the phone numbers of the abductors.

Police arrested Biplob's wife Mitu Akter, sister Aleya Akter, uncle Khokan Miah, and neighbour Abdur Rahim in this connection.
