Abdul Awal passes away
Abdul Awal, a former secretary, died in the capital's United Hospital yesterday, aged 78.
He passed the Central Superior Services (CSS) examination in 1960 and started his career as sub-divisional officer (SDO) of Sunamganj in 1962, says a press release.
During his tenure, which ended in 1994, he worked as the deputy commissioner of Patuakhali, divisional commissioner of Chittagong, parliament secretary, and secretary to the religious affairs ministry.
The Pakistani military shot him in 1971.
A doa mahfil for Awal, who was buried in Banani graveyard, will be held tomorrow at his Banani residence at 40, road-21, block-B.
