ACC issues impersonation alert
Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday issued an alert, saying several syndicates, impersonating ACC officials, had recently tricked people into paying hefty sums of money with threats of concocted charges and promises of relieving them of those.
There is no option of any individual alone initiating investigations, filing cases, leading probes or dropping charges, said an ACC press release, adding that before initiating any investigation, the person concerned would be informed in writing.
"ACC has banned its officials from communicating with persons concerned over the phone," it read. ACC requests apprehending any person demanding money impersonating ACC officials and contacting Director (Observation and Evaluation) Meer Joynul Abedin Shibli at 01711644675 and 9352552 and the nearest police station.
