Ahsanullah University acting VC resigns

Kazi Shariful Alam, the acting vice-chancellor of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology in Dhaka, has resigned from his post in the face of student protest for alleged abuse of power and involvement in irregularities.

Dr Md Amanullah, treasurer of the privately-run university will play a role of acting vice-chancellor until appointment of the regular one, a press release issued by the university said today.

The students of the university started demonstration based on nine-point demand on Monday and continued the protests until meet their demands including resignation of VC Kazi Shariful Alam.

The university authority has called upon all agitating students to extend their all-out cooperation so that the academic and administrative activities of the university are continued smoothly, the release said.
