Banned Hizb-ut Tahrir man held

A joint team of police and DGFI (Directorate General of Forces Intelligence) yesterday arrested an activist of banned Islamist outfit Hizb-ut Tahrir and recovered some anti-state magazines and CDs from his Chandgaon residence in Chittagong city.
During primary interrogation, Sharful Awaal, 27, of Rangunia upazila, who had taught law at a private university in Cox's Bazar till April 23, confessed to his involvement in the outfit, said police, who are also investigating whether Sharful has any connection with foreign terrorist organisations.
