Some 60 Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists of Chittagong University yesterday locked the main entrance of the university demanding that the authorities take immediate steps regarding the recent theft at Shahjalal Hall.

A week ago, 30 cell phone sets, five laptops, wallets and other valuables were stolen from different rooms, said resident students, adding that in last three months at least 100 thefts occurred in different CU halls.

The BCL group was led by its CU unit President Md Alamgir Tipu.

CU Proctor Ali Asgar Chowdhury said they already formed a committee to probe the stealing and actions will also be taken against those who padlocked the gate without waiting for the report.
