BFUJ faction demands 9th wage board
A faction of the Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) yesterday sought formation of ninth wage board for journalists and press employees soon.
The demand came from a meeting of the executive committee of BFUJ at Max Motel in Bogra on Friday.
The members of the committee participated in the meeting organised by the Bogra Union of Journalists (BUJ).
The BFUJ central vice president Shaheed-ul-Alam presided over the meeting, conducted by BFUJ central secretary general Omar Faruk.
Former BFUJ president Monjurul Ahsan Bulbul, vice president Montosh Boshu, cashier Modhusudon Mondal, among others, addressed the programme.
The speakers raised the demand to cope with the present prices of essential commodities. They also sought that the killers journalist Dipankar Chakcrabarty of the district be found out.
They also demanded that the administration support the journalists in discharging their professional duties without creating any obstacles.
In the meeting, the BFUJ leaders decided to hold election for the vacant post of president in the third week of July as the newly elected president Altaf Mahmud died few months ago.
