'Burglar' falls to death, family calls it murder

An alleged burglar died after falling from a building in Bakalia area of Chittagong city yesterday.

The deceased was Azad, 18, of the area.

Police said when Azad was sneaking away after stealing from a house on the second floor of the three-storey building around 3:00am, the house guard noticed him and shone his torch at him. He tried to run along the sun-shed and accidentally fell down on the boundary wall and the spike on the wall pierced through his throat and other parts of the body.

Locals found a stick, with a hook attached to its top, which he used to bring out the valuables through the window, police added. However, victim's sister claimed that Azad was killed and police were denying record a case after talking to the house owner, although earlier they agreed to accept the charge.
