Commandos, associates of Operation Jackpot honoured
Naval commandos and associates, who participated in Operation Jackpot conducted in Chittagong to attack and sink ships at the Chittagong Port on August 15 during the Liberation War, were honoured yesterday in the port city.
Sixty naval commandos and their 40 associates were given crests and certificates. Besides, four families which helped them in different ways were also honoured at the programme.
"It was a nice opportunity for us to get united after a long time," said Naval Commando Md Anwar Miah.
Naval Commandos and Associates, Chittagong, organised the ceremony at a hotel where Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Huq was present as chief guest. Lawmaker Moinuddin Khan Badal chaired the programme where Commodore (retd) AW Chowdhury, Bir Uttam, Bir Bikrom, chief of Operation Jackpot in Chittagong, was also present.
