Communication of police to become digital wireless
The government has taken projects to bring the overall policing under digital wireless communication system, State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal told parliament yesterday.
"Dhaka, Rajshahi and Sylhet divisions have already been brought under digital wireless communication system," Khan said while replying to lawmakers' queries.
Kamal said the police department had also launched the system in Rangpur and Gaibandha on a trial basis.
Besides, initiatives are underway for procuring eight Channel Digital Trunking System equipment to modernise the Chittagong Metropolitan Police wireless communication system, he added.
Kamal said the government was working to bring two more divisions under the digital system in the current fiscal.
He also said the government had installed computers having Internet facilities at 43 wireless units out of 70 of Bangladesh Police for sending SMS.
"The installation of computers with Internet facilities at the remaining 27 units is underway."
