Construction worker dies in Barishal road accident

A construction worker was killed and six of his co-workers were injured as a pickup truck carrying them hit an electricity pole beside Dhaka-Barishal highway near Barishal Cadet College yesterday.

Ashikur Rahman, 18, from Godagari area in Rajshahi, was declared dead at Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, said Mahbubur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Barishal Airport Police Station.

The injured were admitted to the hospital, police said.

Police quoted the witnesses and the injured as saying that the Barishal-bound pickup coming from Rajshahi knocked a human haulier before hitting the electricity pole.

Law enforcers seized both the vehicles.
