Cop dies after being hit by bus while chasing mugger

A police official died yesterday evening after being hit by a bus while trying to catch a mugger in Agargaon.

The deceased was identified as Jahangir Alam, an assistant sub-inspector of Kafrul Police Station.

ASI Jahangir Alam was chasing a suspected mugger on the road around 8:30pm when a bus hit him, leaving him critically injured, said Shahidur Rahman, a sub-inspector of Kafrul Police Station.

He was rushed to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medial College Hospital where doctors declared him dead, SI Shahidur added.
