Cop gets shot during raid in capital

A sub-inspector of Detective Branch of police was shot by miscreants during a drive to nab criminals in Tantibazar of Dhaka yesterday.

Mahbub Sarkar, 38, a member of the east division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, who sustained bullet wounds to his right leg, took treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said DMCH police.

Detectives took some detainees to the spot to arrest their cohorts, said Bongshal police.

Sensing presence of the law enforcers, the criminals started shooting leaving Mahbub injured, they added.

Two cases, one for assaulting police and another under arms act, were filed in this connection.
