Court withdraws arrest warrant hours after issuance

Hours after issuance of arrest warrant against Jubo Dal President Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, a Dhaka court yesterday withdrew its order upon a reconsideration petition submitted by his lawyer in a bomb blast case.

Earlier in the day, Metropolitan Magistrate Md Aminul Haque rejected a time petition and cancelled bail and issued an arrest warrant against Alal as he was absent from court for the 10th consecutive date.

But the court did not pass any order even though four other accused, now on bail, were absent when the magistrate heard the case. Earlier in morning, their lawyers submitted documents before it that their clients were present.

Alal and the four were made accused in the case filed with Ramna Police Station over the bomb explosion on the then chief justice's official residence premises on November 19, 2010.
