Ctg BCL for transport fare for students
The Chittagong city unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League yesterday demanded that the authorities concerned ensure that students pay half-fare for using public transport in the city.
In a statement signed by Imran Ahmed Imu and Nurul Azim Rony, president and general secretary respectively of BCL, Chittagong city, the organisation said fare of public transport is being increased frequently.
A large number of students suffer daily due to this "anarchy" but no steps have been taken to ease their suffering, said the statement. Although half-fare system exists in different cities and upazilas, transport leaders in the port city do not follow the system and force the students to pay full fare, it added.
The BCL leaders threatened to wage a tougher movement if their demand was not met immediately.
