Ctg city girls can now SMS cops for rescue from stalking

Schoolgirls of Chittagong city can save themselves from being victims of stalking by texting 373 to a number of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP), said CMP's Additional Commissioner Banaj Kumer Majumder yesterday.

"They [schoolgirls] can send the text to 01841373237. Afterwards CMP will contact the girl and take necessary steps," he said, adding that accused would not know the complainant's identity.

He further said that if the girl wants, then even parents and teachers would not be told of the matter.

Banaj Kumer talked about CMP's initiative at a rally at Khastagir Government Girls' High School.       

"Schoolgirls face many problems particularly on the way to school or while retuning back to home. We want to help the girls by extending our helping hands," said the police commissioner.

Many girls are teased or disturbed by unknown callers. And most of the girls cannot share this problem with their parents fearing that they might be blamed, said a student.

Headmistress Hasmat Jahan also spoke at the rally.
