Ctg tannery ordered to stop production until ETP set-up

The Department of Environment (DoE) yesterday ordered a tannery to stop production until setting up an effluent treatment plant (ETP), a day after it sealed off the factory for dumping toxic waste in a canal in Baizid area of Chittagong. Azadur Rahman Mollick, DoE Chittagong director, gave the order to Madina Tannery in Jalalabad area in a hearing held at the DoE office.
