CU clerk suspended
Chittagong University (CU) authorities yesterday suspended an employee, two days after he landed in jail in a case filed under Digital Security Act for hurting religious sentiments through a Facebook post.
Nibaran Barua, an upper divisional clerk at CU’s account office, was arrested on June 10 and sent to jail the same day after being produced before a court.
Nibaran was suspended according to the law of CU employees’ (efficiency and discipline) statutes under 15(A), said Registrar KM Nur Ahmed.
He will be reinstated if he gets bail, and livelihood allowances will be paid during the suspension period, said Nur.
