Cuta stages sit-in demanding revision of proposed pay scale

Chittagong University Teachers' Association (Cuta) yesterday staged a sit-in from 11:00am to 12:00noon at CU Buddhijibi Chattar, demanding revision of the proposed national pay scale.

The teachers demanded same salaries and allowances for professors and secretaries, allowance for books and researches, provision of cars like secretaries, and upgrade of CU vice chancellor's rank to that of principal secretary or cabinet division secretary.

Cuta General Secretary SM Khosrul Alam Quddusi urged the prime minister to take immediate steps to meet their demands and also threatened to launch tougher programmes, if their demands are not met immediately.
