Daily Purbanchal editor Liaqat Ali passes away

The Daily Purbanchal Editor Liaqat Ali died of a cardiac arrest Saturday night at Holy Family Hospital in the capital. He was 67.

After his first namaz-e-janaza in the capital his body was taken to Khulna and was kept at Khulna Medical College Hospital. He will be buried after his children and relatives arrive from abroad.

He was a Liberation War organiser, also a former chairman of Khulna Divisional Press Club Federation. The Newspaper Owners' Association of Bangladesh issued a condolence statement, and the daily's office will remain closed tomorrow in mourning.
