Death anniversary

Today is the eighth death anniversary of the first Bengali Muslim lady doctor of the then undivided Bengal Prof Dr Zohra Begum Kazi.

Prof Dr Zohra Begum Kazi Foundation will pay homage to the social worker at the capital's Banani graveyard in the morning, a doa and a milad mahfil will be held at Baitul Mukarram mosque after Asr prayers and also at Kalkini upazila of Madaripur, said a press release.

She joined Dhaka Medical College & Hospital as resident surgeon (gynae) in 1948.  She was awarded the Begum Rokeya Padak and Ekushey Padak.
