Dev programmes should focus on poor: Speaker
Development programmes need to be planned in a way that the poor who are the actual victims of inequality get benefits of growth, said Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury yesterday.
Discussions should be held to find out the sectors which require more priority and financial strength and also to find out a holistic approach to development, she said while inaugurating a two-day national convention of community based organisations organised by Oxfam and some associate organisations in the capital.
State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Narayan Chandra Chanda, Mukul Mia, Maltee Rani, chairperson of Sudin-3 in Satkhira and Eamoinn Taylor, CEO of SHIREE, also spoke at the event with Snehal V Soneji, country director of Oxfam GB, in the chair.
