Dhaka Bank official denied bail in Tk 22cr graft case
The High Court yesterday refused to grant bail to Dhaka Bank's Dhanmondi branch Vice President Md Aminul Islam in a corruption case filed on the charge of misappropriating Tk 22 crore.
The court, however, issued a rule asking the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and government to explain in three weeks why accused Aminul Islam should not be granted bail in the case.
The HC bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Ahmed Sohel issued the rule after holding hearing on the bail petition filed by accused Aminul Islam.
Aminul cannot get released from jail following the HC order, Deputy Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin Manik told The Daily Star.
He said the ACC filed the case with Dhanmondi Police Station on December 23, 2018 against Aminul Islam and six others.
The case statement they misappropriated the money from the bank by submitting fake export bills through misusing powers.
Lawyer Sheikh Awsafur Rahman appeared for Aminul while Kamrunnesa Ratna represented the ACC.
