Dhaka-Barisal route gets daytime launch
People will be able to sail on Dhaka-Barisal river route during daytime from September 15 as private shipping companies will introduce two vessels on the route.
Green Line Waterways and Green Line Transport Company will jointly introduce two vessels -- MV Green Line-2 and MV Green Line-3 -- that will take five hours to make a journey.
Currently, all launches ply on Dhaka-Barisal route at night and take, on an average, 10 hours to make a trip.
The newly-introduced launches will start at 7:00am and 2:00pm daily from Sadarghat and Barisal launch terminals, said a press release of the shipping ministry.
Passengers will have to pay Tk 1,000 for business class, which has 200 seats, and Tk 700 for economic class, which has 400 seats.
Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan inaugurated the vessels at Sadarghat launch terminal in Dhaka yesterday.
