Drive against illegal signboards, wall paintings from April
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) requested all the business centres and individuals to keep signboards or nameplates in sizes that have been approved and remove all wall paintings or pictures by March 31 and threatened to otherwise take action.
DNCC, in a press release, said it would also take steps to disconnect utility service lines like gas, electricity and water, if they failed to do so by that time.
The DNCC authorities said although they had already removed almost all billboards in their areas, some business centres had made their signboards larger than that approved, which was a punishable offence.
They also advertise on walls or in shopping centres violating rules.
According to the release, the DNCC have sued 42 owners and agencies over using signboards illegally.
