Eminent citizens call for unity to rout communal terrorism

Eminent citizens yesterday called for unity among all political, social and cultural forces to eliminate communal and militant activities for the sake of security and diverse culture in the country. 

In a statement, issued under the banner of Bangladesh Rukhe Darao, a platform of progressive and pro-liberation forces, they said those who believe in religion must oppose killings in the name of religion and be united against the factors which pose a threat to traditional festivals.

The signatories are Sultana Kamal, Prof Emeritus Anisuzzaman, Sarwar Ali, Ziauddin Tariq Ali, advocate Rana Dasgupta, Kajal Debnath, MM Akash, Abed Khan, Ramendu Majumder and Syed Shamsul Haq.
