Environmental organisations demand food courts in districts

Some social and environmental organisations formed a human chain yesterday demanding food courts at every district to ensure safe food.

Poribesh Bachao Andolon, Ainer Pathshala and Poribesh Unnayan Society formed the human chain before the Faculty of Fine Arts of Dhaka University. 

Speakers at the human chain claimed that people are becoming increasingly affected by kidney and liver diseases, diarrhoea, dysentery and other diseases due to adulterated food.

They said adulteration goes on at the production, storaging and marketing stage of food products. 

They emphasised implementation of the Safe Food Act, 2013.
