Gayeshwar gets bail in arson case
The High Court yesterday granted ad-interim bail to BNP leader Gayeshwar Chandra Roy for six months in a vandalism and arson case.
Police filed the case last December on charges of vandalising and setting fire to the car of Netrakona-1 lawmaker Chhabi Biswas and preventing law enforcers from discharging duties at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. He however could not be released from jail since he was arrested in two other cases, his lawyer told The Daily Star. The HC also issued a rule upon the government to explain why he should not be granted regular bail in the case.
