Govt develops model to ensure easy services

Unb, Dhaka

The government has developed a model to simplify the existing process to deliver public services to the citizens aimed at saving their time, money and labour.

Access to Information (a2i) Programme has developed the model titled "Service Process Simplification (SPS)" following the internationally recognised Business Process Reengineering (BPR) model to change the conventional system to deliver public services to citizens.

Making the disclosure at the concluding day's session of a five-day training programme on 'Managing Technology for eGovernment' in the capital on Thursday, a2i Project Director Kabir Bin Anwar said, "Initially, we're going to simplify the process to grant pension for the primary school teachers who have to frequently visit the department concerned and spend money to get pension."

Organised by Leveraging ICT for Growth, Employment and Governance (LICT) Project of BCC and A2I of Prime Minister's Office, the event was addressed, among others, by BCC Executive Director SM Ashraful Islam and LICT Project Director Md Rezaul Karim.

eGovernment Component Team Leader of LICT project Tarique M Barkatullah and Communication Specialist Ajit Kumar Sarkar were present.

Anwar said it is possible to make the process easier and save time, labour and money to grant pension by eliminating at least 15 steps from the existing 21 steps required to grant pension for the primary teachers.

The government has a plan to introduce SPS model for granting pension for all government employees in the future if it functions smoothly and successfully in case of primary school teachers, he added.
