HC directs jail authorities to admit Rizvi to BSMMU

The High Court yesterday directed the prison authorities to admit BNP Joint Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) for proper treatment.

Rizvi's wife Anzuman Ara Begum filed a petition saying her husband has been suffering from different ailments, including diabetes and high blood pressure, and therefore he should be admitted for better treatment.

Petitioner's lawyer Sagir Hossain Leon said the jail authorities have to admit Rizvi to BSMMU after the copy of HC's order reaches the jail.

Rizvi, who is now in Kashimpur jail in Gazipur, has secured bail in 15 out of 19 criminal cases, he added.
