Home boss assures security for death threat recipients

Detectives are working to ensure security for those who are receiving death threats, State Minister for Home Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said yesterday.

Soon they will unearth those behind the threats, he told journalists at the secretariat.

The remark came a day after banned Islamist militant outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team through a letter issued death threats to Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu and 24 other eminent personalities, cultural activists and student leaders.

Earlier, militants issued similar letters twice issuing threats on the lives of eminent personalities and freethinkers.

The state minister said such incidents of threats happened earlier. "There is no reason to be panicked as our detectives are vigilant."

The home boss said, "We are investigating why these persons have been targeted."
