The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested four human traffickers and seized a huge number of fake passports from their travel agency, housed in Shapla Building in the capital's Motijheel, early Monday.

The arrestees are Mahidul Islam, Himmat Ali, Rassel and Ujjal Khan. But the gang leader Md Tipu Sultan and his two employees Mojibur Rahman and Ismail Hossain fled, said CID officials at a press briefing yesterday.

The recovery includes some forged visas and arrival-departure seals, they said, adding that four fortune seekers have also been rescued.

The gang trafficked many people by sea, promising them jobs in Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Italy, and different Middle East countries, the officials added.
