Jamalpur mayor suspended

Jamalpur Municipal Mayor Shah Md Wares Ali Mamun has been suspended from his mayoral post.
The suspension order came after a court accepted charges against Mamun, who is now on bail, in the cases filed over violation of law and order in the name of political movement, Jamalpur Deputy Commissioner Shahabuddin khan said.
A fax massage of suspension order from LGRD ministry reached his office on Thursday night, he added.
However, Mamun, also District Unit secretary of BNP, said the cases were filed out of political vengeance to remove him from the post.
He will appeal to the High Court challenging the order, he added.
