JP calls hartal in Rangpur city for Thursday

Jatiya Party (JP) has called a dawn-to-dusk hartal in Rangpur city on Thursday, protesting an attack on SM Yasir, member secretary of the city unit of JP.

Mostafizur Rahman Mostafa, convener of JP Rangpur city unit made the announcement at a protest rally yesterday noon, in front of the Rangpur deputy commissioner's office in Kacharibazar area.

Unidentified miscreants hacked Yasir around 3:00pm on Friday, in Munshipara area, while he was returning home on his motorbike. Yasir is undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU) of Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH).

Earlier, JP activists brought out a procession and demanded immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of the attackers. HM Ershad, chairman of JP, yesterday visited Yasir and expressed his solidarity with the hartal.
