Kader Siddique applies to run for Tangail-4 JS seat

Krishak Sramik Janata League President Abdul Kader Siddique and nine others yesterday submitted nomination papers to contest Tangail-4 by-election to be held on November 10.

Of the 10, three others -- Kader's his wife Nasrin Kader Siddique, Joint Secretary Iqbal Siddique, and Kalihati upazila unit president Hasmot Ali of KSJL -- submitted nomination papers, said Returning Officer Mohammad Alimuzzaman.

Other aspirants are Hasan Imam Khan Sohel Hazari (Awami League), Syed Mostaq Hossain (Jatiya Party-Ershad), Sadek Siddique (JP-Manju), Imrul Kayes (National Peoples Party), Ataur Rahman Khan (BNF) and independent candidate Abdul Alim.

The papers' scrutiny will be held on October 13 and the deadline for withdrawal of candidature is October 21.

The parliamentary seat has remained vacant since AL lawmaker Abdul Latif Siddique resigned after he was expelled from the party over his controversial remarks on religion in the US.
