Listed ‘criminal’, four frauds arrested in capital
Detectives in the capital's Badda on Sunday arrested an alleged top thug and four members of a fraud syndicate who allegedly make fake driving licence, fitness certificate and insurance certificate.
Ibrahim Khan alias Bhagne Tushar -- an accused in over 20 cases including five for murders -- was arrested around 10:15pm with a pistol, two bullets and a magazine said Monirul Islam, joint commissioner of Detective Branch of Police at a press briefing at DMP Media Centre yesterday.
Ibrahim took control of a criminal gang -- active in Rampura, Khilgaon and Badda -- after the his maternal uncle Polash alias Kaillya Polash who used to lead the gang was arrested several months back, Monirul added.
Meanwhile, four members of the fraud syndicate -- Sirajul Islam Jinnat, Abdur Razzak, former cop Bazlur Rahman and former army person Saidur Rahman Shimul -- were arrested on Sunday evening, detectives said.
The criminals make fake driving license, fitness certificate and insurance certificate and supply them in guise of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) in exchange of money, said Monirul.
Detectives also recovered a computer, a printer, seven incomplete fake driving licenses, six fake driving licenses, 21 plastic card, two golden ribbon holograms and nine small containers of colour.
Bazlur and Shimul were sacked from their respective forces for different allegations, Monirul added.
