Man held with 10kg gold at Dhaka airport

A passenger has been detained for possession of 103 gold bars weighing 10.3kg from Dhaka’s Harzat Shahjalal International Airport.

Detainee Abdus Salam, 48, hailing from Gazipur, arrived in Dhaka from Singapore via a Singapore Airlines flight around 10:40pm last night.

Tipped off, a team of customs officials intercepted Salam and seized the gold at green channel, said a press release issued from Dhaka customs house.

The estimated price of the gold bars is over Tk 5 crore.

During interrogation, he disclosed to the authorities that the gold belonged to one HM Kamruzzaman alias Zico, a resident of Dhaka’s Khilkhet.
