The decomposed body of a newspaper official was found in a Khilkhet boarding house in the capital yesterday, three days after he had gone missing.

Jahangir Alam Kaosar, 37, of Tejkuni Para in Tejgaon, was an assistant manager of the advertisement department of the daily Banikbarta.

Following the confessional statement of arrested SM Faisal, 28, the victim's cousin, the body was found packed inside a large suitcase hidden in the house in Namapara, said Shahidul Haq, officer-in-charge of Khilkhet Police Station.

Police also arrested three others -- Rakib, Raihan and Fahim -- based on Faisal's information.

Asraful Islam, a relative of the victim, said Jahangir had given Faisal Tk 3.5 lakh for business purpose and he was killed by Faisal for the money.

Jahangir was strangled, said sources at Dhaka Medical College morgue where the autopsy was conducted.

Shahidul Haq said he was blindfolded and his hands were tied.

The family told The Daily Star that on the day of Jahangir's going missing he left his office around 12:00 noon and since then his cellphone had been switched-off.
