Missing girl found dead in Rangpur

A girl was found dead in a pond in Rangpur City yesterday, a day after she went missing on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as 7-year-old Mysha Akter, daughter of Monwar Hossain of Borobari Sarkarpara under Rangpur city.

She was found dead in a pond in the same area. She was discovered with torture marks on her neck and ear, said Shahidullah Kawsar, Additional Deputy Police Commissioner.

Her uncle Anwar Hossain said she went missing on Tuesday noon after she went out to play nearby. Later, villagers saw a body floating on the pond and informed police of the matter.

A police team soon rushed to the spot and recovered the body, and sent it to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

Initially, a general diary was filed over the incident.

More action will be taken after getting the autopsy report.
