Moni Singh's 25th anniversary of death today

Today is the 25th death anniversary of Moni Singh, former president of the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB).

He was a member of the Advisory Council of the Provisional Government of Bangladesh during the 1971 Liberation War.

Born in Kolkata on July 28, 1901, he shifted to Durgapur in Mymensingh (present Netrakona) with his mother after his father's death. An Independence Award recipient, he died in 1990 at the age of 84.

On the occasion, different organisations, including CPB, will hold different programmes. They will also place wreaths at his monument at Postogola crematorium at 7:00am today. A fair in his memory will begin today and continue till January 6 in Netrakona.
