Mother admits to killing: Cops

Fahmida Mir Mukti, 30, who is being suspected of stabbing her 18-month-old son to death in the capital's Uttar Khan on Monday night admitted to police that she killed her son and attempted to commit suicide afterwards, claimed Sheikh Sirajul Haque, officer-in-charge (OC) of Uttar Khan Police Station.

He said police has not grilled her intensively. They would interrogate her further after she overcomes her sickness.

Murad's next-door neighbour Naznin Akhter yesterday told this correspondent that both Murad- the husband and Mukti are married for the second time.

They used to quarrel frequently, as they suspected each other of having extramarital affairs, she added.

The toddler was buried at the Mohammadpur Beribadh graveyard on Tuesday.
