Motorcyclist killed in Malibagh accident

A motorcyclist was killed as a bus crashed into his motorbike in Malibagh area of Dhaka this afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Hemayet Hossain, 35, an interior designer by profession and a resident of Dhaka’s Rampura area, Matiur Rahman, the victim’s paternal cousin told The Daily Star.

The speeding bus hit the motorcycle of Hemayet in front of Malibagh kitchen market, while he was returning to his business shop in Rampura from Nababpur, leaving him critically injured, he said.

Hemayet was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead around 3:45pm, said Yakub Ali, sub-inspector of Rampura Police Station.

Police also seized the bus and arrested its driver from the post, the police official added.
