Nizami's death penalty hailed

Applauding the Supreme Court verdict that upheld war criminal Motiur Rahman Nizami's death penalty, spokesperson for a faction of Gonojagoron Mancha Imran H Sarker said the verdict was a befitting reply to Pakistan for asking Bangladesh to withdraw its diplomat from Islamabad.

Addressing a rally in the capital's Shahbagh after a procession, he urged the government to sever diplomatic ties with Pakistan, send all their diplomats back to Pakistan, and lock the embassy here.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Chhatra League's Chittagong College unit brought out a procession and distributed sweets on the campus in celebration. Leaders of the unit declared that they would resist any initiative to hold gayebana namaz-e-janaza on the college premises.

Chittagong Gonojagoron Mancha also brought out a procession at Cheragi Pahar Intersection in the city and demanded quick execution of Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Nizami.
