NU to protest ongoing political situation March 14
Students, teachers, and staff of all 2,154 colleges and institutes under National University will form a human chain On March 14 in front of their respective campuses to express concern over the ongoing political situation of the country.
As per the decision of the syndicate, the 45-minutes long programme will be held at 11:00am, announced Prof Harun-or-Rashid, vice chancellor of National University at a press conference at its city office in Dhanmondi yesterday.
He said they announced a crash programme recently to bring an end to the session jam, but they are facing serious problems to implement the plans.
"Apart from normal academic activities, examinations are also in jeopardy," Prof Harun said in a written statement.
He said examination of degree (pass) course involving five lakh students were supposed to begin on February 22, but they could not start it due to the ongoing situation.
Similarly, they could not take the prescheduled year final exams of 1.80 lakh first year students of 2013-14 session, he said, adding such deferment would definitely create session jam.
The VC said they will soon take exams on weekends and other days to avoid the looming problems.
