Obituary

M Afzal Khan, former managing director of Bangladesh Shipping Corporation, died at his city residence yesterday. He was 86.

He left behind his wife and five daughters.

A law graduate, he won a Commonwealth scholarship in 1960 for higher studies in Canada, joined the then Pakistan Shipping Corporation in Karachi.

He also served as the chairman of Cosmos Shipping Lines Ltd. He was the son of Amanat Khan, a member of Bengal Legislative Assembly.
